No Pun Intern-ed

As most of you may know, Smith Bruer Advisors has two new team members. We are excited to have Hannah and Katie on board and they look forward to meeting and getting to know as many of our clients as possible during their internships. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce them.

Name: Hannah Lyons

School: Florida State University

Year: Senior

Major: Finance

Hometown: Longwood, FL

Campus Involvement: Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society Vice President, Securities Society, Golden Key International Honor Society Treasurer, Mentor for the Torch and Laurel Society

Current Project: I’m learning the complete process of becoming a financial planner and assisting with client interactions and meetings.

Why SBA: Going into my major, I have always loved finance and numbers but I hated the “make money over helping people” ideals that come along with many organizations. I knew I didn’t want that but I didn’t know there were any other options until I did the FSU Shadow program and found SBA. From that point, I knew this was the type of industry I could actually picture myself in and I’m so happy that it all worked out that I can be here.

Fun Fact: I have rode the World’s Tallest Roller Coaster. To be honest, I hated it at the time but now, it’s my go to fun fact.

What You Do For Fun: I love spending time with my family: I have three sisters!  I also recently became a cat-mom to an adorable cat named Munch. I enjoy going to the beach and being outside. I really like bike riding. I would love to go mountain bike riding but am totally afraid I will hurt myself.

Name: Katie Brooks

School: Florida State University

Year: Junior

Major: Marketing

Hometown: Coral Springs, FL

Campus Involvement: Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity Marketing Committee, Her Campus Staff Writer, Panhellenic Association Director of Brand Development, Order of Omega Honor Society

Current Project: I’m currently working on projects like this blog as well as a newsletter and some other pretty cool top secret projects.

Why SBA: When it came down to choosing internships, it was very similar to when I first tried to pick a major: I had no idea what I wanted to do but I knew what I didn’t want to do. With internships, I knew that I absolutely did not want to fetch some old man that didn’t know my name his coffee while I maybe got to work on some sort of internship project. Now, I get to do that for two people. Just kidding. This job allows me to write my own ticket which is the kind of environment I love and know I can grow in and I can’t wait to see where we all go from here.

Fun Fact: My freshman year, my roommate’s name was also Katie and our suitemates were identical twins. People were pretty confused about our living situation.

What You Do For Fun: I love spending time with my sorority sisters at the house. I recently went mattress surfing down the stairs during finals week and it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had. I’m a book nerd and will read anything so if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I also love football and have to be on the verge of death to miss a home game. Go Noles!
